Winston-Salem Margie Jones Allen, 91, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2012 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Forsyth County on March 20, 1920 to the late James T. Jones, Sr. and Lula Shore Jones. She grew up on Hillcrest Farm which became Hillcrest Golf Course. On her birthday in 1943 she married James W. Allen. Margie retired from P.H. Hanes Knitting Company and Forsyth Hospital Child Care. She was a lifelong member of Hope Moravian Church where she was very active in the Choir, the Ella Mae Johnson Sunday School Class, and the Women's Fellowship as long as her health permitted. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband and siblings, John Lee, Clyde, Bynum, J.T., Jr., Estelle, Margaret, Billy and Mildred; nephews, Raymond and Don Jones. Aunt Margie is survived by nephews Richard, Thurman, and Bobby Jones; nieces Peggy Moser, Erline Wright, Margaret Cline, Donna Chappell, Mary Hege, Nancy Lloyd, Janet Jennings, Vicky Smith, Janice Raper, Julie Maynard, and Elizabeth Hensley. A graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. David Merritt officiating. Margie will lie in state 45 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Hope Moravian Church fellowship hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Moravian Church, 2759 Hope Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27127 or to Sunnyside Ministry of the Moravian Church, 319 Haled Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27127.
