Margarita Mourounas Floros, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, January 29, 2021. She was born to the late Athanasios and Paraskevi Mourounas on May 5, 1926 in Nostimo, Evrytania, Greece. Margarita married Gus (Konstandinos) Floros on November 27, 1955 and celebrated their 65th Anniversary last year. They Lived in Megalo, Horio, Karpenisiou Evrytanias with their daughter Maria (Marika) until they immigrated to Florence, SC in 1966. Margarita was a member of the Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church and Philoptochos Society in Florence, SC. In 1980, Margarita and Gus moved to Winston-Salem, NC to be closer to their daughter, son-in-law, John P. Gallins and grandchildren, Paul and Constantina. Margarita was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Philoptochos Society and the Association Megalohoriton of America. She was a loving wife, mother, Yiayia and Big Yiayia. She was a traditional homemaker, who loved gardening. Her greatest joy was being with her family, babysitting her grandchildren and spending time with her great-grandchildren. After retirement Gus and Margarita loved spending summers at their village in Greece with family. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, George Mourounas; sister, Frances Kanos from Florence, SC; a sister, Georgia Paliouras from Greece and her beloved son-in-law, John Paul Gallins. She is survived by her husband, Gus J. Floros; a daughter, Maria Gallins; a grandson, Paul John Gallins; a granddaughter, Constantina (Deno) Frangakis; great grandchildren, Thomas and John; a sister-in-law, Helen Mourounas from Florence, SC and numerous nieces and nephews in the United States and Greece. May her memory be eternal. A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with Father George Kouzelis officiating. Interment will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 435 Keating Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
