WINSTON-SALEM - Mrs. Margaret ""Peggy"" Reagan, 91, of Forest Heights Senior Living Community, passed away, Tuesday, November 4, 2014, at her residence. She was the third of four children, born on August 29, 1923, to Lester and Magdalene Stahlecker in East Sparta, Ohio. In her youth, she served several years as president of the 4H Club and as secretary of the local Lutheran Church youth group for one year. She graduated from East Sparta High School in 1940 at the age of 16. After graduation, she worked in a gas station for several months and then worked in a nearby ceramic tile plant. During World War II she moved to Canton, Ohio where she worked as a riveter, helping build airplane wing flaps and bomb bay doors for the war effort. After the war she worked as a control room operator at radio station WCMW where she met her future husband who was also working as a control room operator. She was married on November 28, 1947. She greatly enjoyed and was quite successful at entering and winning contests. Most of her family life was spent working as a homemaker and raising her family. In 1978 she started work at Wachovia Bank, working on the night shift for four years. After recovering from a health problem, she returned to work in the Trust Department of Wachovia Bank for another six years. After retiring from Wachovia Bank in 1988, she worked for five years in the Gift Shop at the WFU Baptist Medical Center. She volunteered for two long term studies at the hospital: ARIC (an atherosclerosis study) and MESA (a multi-ethnic study of atherosclerosis). She also spent many years working on crafts and participating in craft shows with the Winston-Salem Craft Guild. She developed and made a wide variety of Christmas ornaments and holiday items that were sold at the Craft Guild shows and at the Cricket's Nest Shop. Her crocheted snowflake ornaments were especially popular. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Victor and Lawrence. She is survived by her sister, Evelyn Gallion of Loudonville, Ohio; her son, Ronald J. Reagan and wife Betsy of Winston-Salem; her daughters, Jeanette Sheek and husband Kenny of Clemmons, and Vickie Jarvis and husband John of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren, Daniel Reagan, David Reagan, Wendy Sheek( and friend Lee Whitman), Traci Jarvis (and husband Brandon) , Katie James, Laura Grannaman( and fiancé Aaron Lamb) Danny Jarvis and Catie Jarvis; and seven great grandchildren, Shane, Brittany, Kaylee, Gray, Tristan, Hunter and Harrison. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 8 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Joseph Coltrane officiating. Burial will follow at Forsyth Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, November 7 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to charities of the donor's choice.
