Mrs. Margaret J. Plake, 95, passed away peacefully Friday, May 31, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born July 6, 1917 in Pitt County to Blaney Turnage Jackson and Maggie Cox Jackson. Mrs. Plake was reared in Grifton and was a graduate of Eastern Teachers College. She taught for 26 years in Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School System at South Fork Elementary. Mrs. Plake was an active member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church. She was a teacher for life and a friend to many. Mrs. Plake joined her family husband, Harold L. Plake; son Don H. Plake; parents; sister Grace J. Barotti; and brother Earl Jackson in heaven. Surviving to cherish her memory is her daughter-in-law, Barbara S. Plake; two granddaughters, Hilary Plake Beck and husband David, Emily Plake Vesely and husband Jeremy; four great grandchildren, Emmet Anthony Vesely, Josey Ruth Vesely, Denali Claire Beck, and Amelia Don Beck; grand niece Margaret K. Milos and husband Johnny; grand newphew, Bobby R. Kiger, Jr. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church with Rev. Emily Larsen, Rev. Eric Larsen, and Dr. Jud Milam officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 357 Old Hollow Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
