Mrs. Margaret Marie Garner Myers, 90, of Kernersville, NC, closed her eyes and opened them to her Savior on June 28, 2024, at Homestead Hills. Mrs. Myers was born on December 21, 1933, one of twelve children in Forsyth County to the late Mr. Robah Ellis Garner and Mrs. Julia Maledia Ashley Garner. Margaret was a devout Christian and was a longtime member of Oaklawn Baptist Church. She loved to talk about the Lord, the bible and enjoyed her Sunday School class. Margaret was married to the late James William Myers for 61 years. Together they had three daughters, Linda, Shirley and Patricia. She loved to spend time in her garden, travel with James in their camper, and of course she loved to cook for her family, no one ever left her house hungry. In addition to her parents and her husband she was preceded in death by five brothers, Joe, Jimmy, Kenneth, Gene and Robah Jr. Garner; three sisters, Catherine Garner, Betty Cain, and Louise Sykes; and a son-in-law, Mitchell Britt. Left to cherish her memory are her three daughters, Linda (Charles) Freeman, Shirley Britt, and Patricia (Kenneth) Pennell; six grandchildren, Charles, Renee (Jared), Kimberly, Heather, Bradley (Holly), and Mitchell (Lauren); ten great grandchildren, Keith, Natalie, Nicole, Charlee, Ella, Collin, Addie, Bella, Charlotte, and Kellen; two sisters, Judy (Harley) Jones, and Jackie (Gene) Everhart; and a brother, Mike (Vannecia) Garner. A funeral service will be held at 12pm noon on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Oaklawn Baptist Church with Pastor Jay Boyce and Rev. Jim Saul officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00am at the church. Interment will follow at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Oaklawn Baptist Church, 3500 Kernersville Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or Trellis Supportive Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Trellis Supportive Care and Homestead Hills in Winston-Salem for the love and care given to their mother during her stay there. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is respectfully serving the Myers family during this time.
