Miss Margaret Ann Lortie, 51, of Winston-Salem, passed away October 19, 2008 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born August 5, 1957 to Dick and Mary Alice Lortie. Miss Lortie was a member of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. She graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in 1975 and North Carolina State University in 1979. She was Assistant Clerk of Forsyth County Superior Court and Past President of the Association of Assistant and Deputy Clerk of Superior Court in 1996. She was the Visiting Lecture at Wake Forest University Law School. Surviving are her parents, Dick and Mary Alice Lortie of Winston-Salem; three sisters, Rita Ellen Meredeth (Doug) of High Point, Jayne Wright (Randy) of Hamptonville and Michele Terece Valle (Peter) of Boise, ID; one brother, Patrick R. Lortie of Greensboro. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, October 23, 2008 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with Fr. Conall McHugh officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Wednesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family appreciates the many acts of kindness extended on Margaret's behalf: To Fr. Conall McHugh for nourishing her spiritually and sacramentally for several months prior to her death; to the office staff at the Forsyth County Clerk of Superior Court; to the medical staff at the cancer center at Forsyth Medical Center. and to the staff at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home for their special care extended to Margaret on her last earthly days.
