Margaret Hawkins

Mrs. Margaret Hawkins, 74, went home to be with her Father in Heaven Saturday, October 30, 2021, at Woltz Hospice Home. She was born October 29, 1947, in Durham County to the late Rev. John Knight and Elizabeth Tate Knight. Margaret was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. After graduating from the Baptist School of Nursing, she chased her dream of helping others. She started her dream at Mars Hill as the head nurse of the college infirmary. While at Mars Hill she completed her bachelor’s degree in science and met her husband, William Hawkins in which they married on July 29, 1972. Together they had their son, Aaron T. Hawkins. Margaret loved spending time with her family and her church family. She was a skilled nurse, teacher, and a beautiful soul who loved God. She is survived by her loving husband, Bill Hawkins; son, Aaron Hawkins and daughter-in-law Elizabeth Hawkins; three grandchildren, Isabel, Eden, and Caleb; and one sister, Melissa Knight. A memorial service will be conducted 3:00 PM Sunday, November 7, 2021, at Olive Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Todd Lusk officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Olive Grove Baptist Church, 2131 Volunteer Road, Pinnacle, NC, 27043.
