Margaret McCann Hartis

Margaret McCann Hartis, 84, passed away on March 24, 2025, at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on August 26, 1941, to Burton Finley McCann and Aileen Perry McCann in Surry County. Following graduation from the University of North Carolina, Margaret enjoyed a rewarding career as a pharmacist at Forsyth Medical Center. She was an avid reader and supporter of the environment. More than anything, Margaret will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul who loved all people and animals alike. She adored her grandchildren, other family and friends. Surviving are her loving son, Charles Hartis (Rhonda); grandchildren, Jessica and Landon Hartis; sister, Sara McCann; former husband, Gilbert Hartis (Dana); and dear in-laws, Tom and Sandra Dwyer. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM, Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. J. Muckenfuss officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the funeral home until 7:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sierra Club or a local food bank.
