Margaret Pilcher Hampton

Mrs. Margaret Pilcher Hampton, 81, passed away Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Village Care of King. She was born December 4, 1931 in Yadkin Co. to the late William Ray Pilcher and Emma Hennings Pilcher. Mrs. Hampton was a loving mother and grandmother to many more than just her family and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in King. She had a great love for children and operated a daycare from her home for many years. Mrs. Hampton also cared for infants at First Baptist Church of Rural Hall and Bethabara Moravian Church's daycare programs. After retirement from childcare, she went to work for Walmart as a greeter and worked there as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Hampton, a granddaughter, Hope Hampton, one sister and four brothers. She is survived by two sons, Charles Hampton and wife Heather of Rural Hall and Jerry Hampton and wife Jill of Belpre, OH, six grandchildren, Kevin, Isaac, Nick, Isaiah, Charity and Grace. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Hampton will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Chapel in Rural Hall with Rev. Roger Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory in Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 6:00-9:00 this evening at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: A Brighter Path Foundation, 7730 North Pointe Dr., Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
