Mrs. Margaret "Peg" Burleigh, 87, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at Sunrise at Bon Air senior living in Richmond, Virginia.
She was born to Marion and Rexford Stratton on December 25, 1937, in Westfield, New York. Peg received a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics Education from Saint Mary's College in Notre Dame, Indiana, and later earned her Master's degree from Buffalo State University in New York.
In addition to teaching, Peg enjoyed a lengthy career with Piedmont Airlines and US Airways, primarily in reservations and central assistance. Peg dedicated her life to her family, friends, and neighbors. She was bright and intuitive, and her positive, caring nature shaped her family, was influential, and comforted those fortunate enough to cross her path or call her friend. She adored travel, treasured her long-term friendships, and she, along with the other self-proclaimed "Beach Bridge Bitches", created a wealth of happy memories.
In addition to her beloved parents, Peg was preceded in death by her spouse, Chuck; her brother, Bill; her son-in-law, Greg; and her daughter-in-law, Heidi. She is survived by her brother, Robert Stratton; two sons, Todd Burleigh and Bryan Burleigh (Pam); daughter, Beth Bullard; and eight grandchildren, Andrew, Cheryl, Morgan, Brayden, Jonathan, Nicholas, Jackson, and Kate.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5, 2025, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Winston-Salem, NC. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that tribute donations be made in memory of Peg to the Alzheimer's Association.
