Margaret Bowman

Mrs. Margaret Joyce Bowman, 87, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home in Winston-Salem. She was born in Stokes Co. on March 21, 1930 the daughter of the late Lespie Joyce and Hattie Mae Mickey Joyce. She was retired from Stokes County as a social worker and was owner/operator, along with her late husband, of the Single Tree Inn. Mrs. Bowman attended Brown Mountain Baptist Church, as long as her health permitted. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Benton Bowman, Sr.; and a brother, Frank Joyce. She is survived by a daughter, Gail Harger (Dean) of Westfield; two sons, Charles Michael "Mike" Bowman (Cheryl) of Mt. Airy and Tommy Bowman (Dina) of King; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Marjie Orrell, Dorothy Hooker (Edward) and Nancy Burton. A graveside service will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 13, 2017 at Brown Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Evelyn Lemmons officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. The family would like to send a special thank you to Dr. Dana Winn for all of her wonderful care.
