Mrs. Marcia “Wylene” Grubbs, 91, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024 at Kate B Reynolds Hospice Home. Wylene was born in Forsyth County to the late Hubert Lee and Gladys Loggins McGee on August 8, 1933. She retired after 33 years of service with JCPenny where she was a buyer for the Women’s Department. Wylene loved working for JCPenny and considered her co-workers as part of her family. She also loved her family immensely and enjoyed spending time with them. Wylene was a longtime member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Winston-Salem. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Joe Franklin Grubbs.
Left to cherish Wylene’s memory are her sons, Bradley Grubbs (Alice) and Keith Grubbs (Connie); six grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and one on the way; brothers, Don McGee and Wendell McGee (Martha); a sister, Kaye Tate (Robert); several nieces and nephews, and her caregiver, Wendy Millard.
A funeral service will be held Monday, December 30, 2024, at 2:00PM at First Pentecostal Holiness Church. The family will greet friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00PM. Interment will follow the service in Pine Grove Methodist Church Cemetery in Kernersville. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to First Pentecostal Holiness Church, PO Box 5252 Winston-Salem, NC 27113. Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel is assisting the family.
