Marcella "Marcie" Pennington Thompson

Mrs. Marcella Ann Pennigton Thompson, 71, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, March 16, 2025. She was born in Raleigh Co., West Virginia on November 27, 1953, the daughter of the late Ernest Earl Pennigton and Ethel Elizabeth Taylor Pennigton. Marcie worked for Sears for several years, but she retired from NC Public Schools as a teaching assistant at Mineral Springs. She loved the Lord, her church, and being a minister’s wife. She served the Lord by being a Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher, singing in the choir and loving her church family. She will be fondly remembered and missed deeply by everyone she met. Marcie loved to cook and crochet. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ernie Pennington. Marcie is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Bro. Jim Thompson; her sister, Kay Duncan; her sister-in-law, Karen Pennington; and her nieces and nephews, who she loved as her own. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2025, at Northwoods Baptist Church with Bro. David Keaton and Bro. Kenny Heath officiating. Burial will follow in Faith Baptist Church Cemetery in Germanton (Flat Shoals). The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Northwoods Baptist Church.
