Maleta Mae Woodard Burnette

WINSTON-SALEM-Mrs. Maleta Mae Woodard Burnette, 87, of Winston-Salem, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 4, 2013. She was born on March 18, 1926 in Jackson County, NC to Manuel and Birdie Johnson Woodard. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dover Burnette and three brothers, Grover, Clyde, and Glenn Woodard. Mrs. Burnette is survived by three sons, Ronnie and Wife Iva, Carroll, and Marvin Burnette, all of Winston-Salem; one daughter, Elaine and William Donald of Winston-Salem; five grandchildren and five-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Juanita Cope and Minnie Buchanan and one brother, Monroe Woodard, all of Sylva, NC. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 at Westlawn Gardens of Memory in Clemmons, NC with Rev. Vic Pyles officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer's Associating, P.O. Box 96011, Washington, D.C. 20090-6011 or to Community Home Care and Hospice, 225 Davie Ave., Statesville, NC 28677-5316. The family would like to express their deepest appreciation for all the staff at Southfork Assisted Living Memory Care Unit for all the loving care they provided to their mother.
