Mrs. Major Madeline Edwards, 85, of Winston-Salem, passed away Thursday, October 21, 2021. She was born November 22, 1935, in Buncombe County, NC, to Leora Rice Biddix and Lonnie Biddix. She served as an officer in The Salvation Army, alongside her husband, for over three decades in NC, SC, Va., WV, and Maryland. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Theodore Biddix, Edward Biddix and J.B. Biddix; and sisters, Ginger Fletcher and Doris Gainey. Surviving are her husband, Major Jack Edwards; two children, Jackie Seabolt and husband John Haney and Gary Jackson Edwards, Jr.; two grandchildren, Jakob Perry Seabolt and Braden Chandler Edwards; a sister, Rosalie Chastain and husband Jack; as well as a niece and several nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Major James Allison officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service.
