Major Gary "Jack" Edwards, Sr.

Mr. Major Gary “Jack” Edwards, Sr., 83, of Winston-Salem, passed away Monday, November 1, 2021, at Wake Forest Baptist Health. He was born March 11, 1938, in Forsyth County to Donnie Midway Edwards and Grace Mae Royal Edwards. He served as an officer with The Salvation Army, alongside his wife, for over three decades in NC, SC, Va., WV, and Maryland. He was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline Biddix Edwards; his parents; and siblings, Billy Edwards, Mitchell Edwards and Nina Edwards. Surviving are his two children, Jackie Seabolt and husband John Haney and Gary Jackson Edwards, Jr.; two grandchildren, Jakob Perry Seabolt and Braden Chandler Edwards; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Rosalie and Jack Chastain; as well as several cousins and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, November 5, 2021 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Major James Allison officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 30 minutes before the service.
