Maggie Orrell Cole

Margaret ""Maggie"" Orrell Cole, 71, of Winston-Salem, NC and Fancy Gap, VA succumbed to cancer on July 2, 2014 after a tireless battle. Born on October 15, 1942 to the late Charles and Ella Orrell, she attended R. J. Reynolds High School and was retired from the W.S.F.C. School System. Maggie leaves behind a devoted husband of 50 years, Walter E. Cole Jr.; a son, Charles Cole; a daughter and son in law, Margaret Cole Hawley and Hugh F. Hawley; a sister, Julia Hutcherson; a beloved grandson, Ben Hawley; and countless friends. Maggie lived life to the fullest. She traveled around the world several times, enjoyed line dancing with her friends, loved working with children and spending time at her quiet mountain retreat. She was a devoted member of Church of Christ at Arcadia in Lexington, NC. She will lie in state at the church one hour before the 2 pm service Saturday, July 5th. The family would like to thank her very special caregiver, Brandon Loughran, for his devotion to her care. The world will be less without Maggie. She is simply irreplaceable.
