Magdalene Collins Bennett

Summerfield - Magdalene Collins Bennett, 82, went to her heavenly home March 15, 2009. She was born January 24, 1927 in Stokes Co. to John H. Collins and Gustie McKinney. Mrs. Bennett was a faithful member of Northwest Baptist Church for over sixty years. She helped organize the church in 1948, and was the church clerk for many of those years. She taught Sunday School for the children and senior adults for several years. She sang in the choir for over sixty years. She was a member of the ladies missionary group and ladies visitation group as well as head of the prayer room for a number of years. Surviving are; her loving husband of sixty one years, James H. Bennett, Sr. one daughter; Laura Brown and husband Wayne, a son; James ""Jimmy"" Bennett, Jr. and wife Susan, five grandchildren; Matthew Bennett and wife Cheryl, Jason Brown, Anna Tinch and husband Duane, Ashley Miller and husband Derrick, and Ashley Kimes, three great grandchildren; Allison Miller, Dylan Miller, and Hannah Bennett, two sisters; Erlene Cheek and husband William Cheek of High Point, and Aislee Smith of Lincolnton, NC, and one brother; Johnny Collins and wife Betty of Wilmington, NC A celebration of life service will be conducted 2:00 pm Wednesday, March 18, 2009, at Northwest Baptist Church by the Rev. Russell Pinkelton and Dr. R.D. Hamann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm March 17, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel.
