Mae Kilby Redfield

Winston-SalemMarenthia Mae Kilby Redfield passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at the W-S Nursing & Rehab. She was born November 26, 1922 in Grayson County, Virginia to the late Gaither and Ennice Moran Kilby. She graduated from Lansing High School in Lansing, NC in 1940 and later graduated from Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing in Charlotte, NC in 1944. She married Robert F. Redfield on April 8, 1945 and they moved to Connecticut in November of 1946. Ms. Redfield worked as a nurse for most of her working career. She was an Assistant O.R. Supervisor at Presbyterian Hospital and worked as a Public Health Nurse in Essex, Connecticut for many years. She later worked as an Office Nurse for a surgeon and then worked for Shoreline Clinic of Middlesex Memorial Hospital in Essex, Connecticut for the last 14 ½ years of her working career. After retiring on December 28, 1984, she moved to North Carolina in January of 1985. Preceding her in death was her husband, Robert F. Redfield; a son, Stanley Redfield; sisters, Clyde Kilby, Grace Simpson, Kate Campbell, and Madge Gaither. Surviving is a daughter, Judith Redfield and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at a later date in Riverview Cemetery in Essex, Connecticut. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407.
