Madora Cooley Blackburn

Madora Cooley Blackburn passed away Saturday, 07/30/2016 at the age of 88. She was born on February 22, 1928 to Wiley and Eliza Prentiss Cooley in Leakesville, Mississippi. She retired with 29 years of service from Lucent Technologies where she worked as Secretary and Auditor.

She is survived by her Husband of 65 years Spencer J. Blackburn, and two sons, Buddy C. Blackburn and Carl S. Blackburn, and her daughter-in-law Donna P. Blackburn. She had 4 grandchildren, John C. Blackburn (and wife Shannon), Melinda K. Blalock, Cynthia D. Williamson, and Christina L. Flanegin (and husband Jimmy). She had 9 great-grand children: Michael C Blackburn, Adrian K. Blackburn, Joshua D. Blalock, Brendan X. Blalock, Bradley X. Blalock, Chloe S. Williamson, Mikayla L. East, Logan R. Blackburn, and Austin D. Van Etten.

A Funeral Service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 3, 2016 at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Pastor Ed Sears officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the chapel.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was devout believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, and our loss is heavens gain.

2 Timothy 4:6 & 7: ""For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought the good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith.""
