Mabel Irene Combs Rohath

KERNERSVILLE-Mrs. Mabel Irene Combs Rohath, 88, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sorely missed by her family and friends. She was born February 11, 1921 in Guilford Co. to the late Luther Pepper and Della Mae Pegram Combs. Mabel was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge where she was the pianist for many years. She was active in Sunday School, Bible Study and various ministries throughout the church. She spent countless hours visiting shut-ins in the community, providing comfort and support. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael; one brother, Lloyd Combs; three sisters, Pauline Combs, Avalee Combs Fetter, and Eva Combs. She is survived by her daughters, Debbie Barreau and husband Richard of Colfax, and Gwen Barrow Wharton and husband Michael of Winston Salem; four grandchildren, Rick Barreau, Kristie Barreau Hodges, Jordan Barrow Douglas and husband Jeremy and Paul Barrow; three great-grandchildren, Lauren, Michael, and Ryan Douglas; two sisters, Evelyn Apple, and Mary Virginia Blackburn; and one brother, Norman Combs all of Oak Ridge. A funeral service will be conducted at 3:30 pm Sunday, July 19, 2009 at Bethel United Methodist Church in Oak Ridge with Pastor Danny Miller and the Rev. Don Conrad officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3:30 pm Sunday prior to the service.
