Lynne Reynolds Atkins, 86, went to her heavenly home, December 29, 2024, at Cadence Assisted Living.
Lynne was born on October 10, 1938, in Forsyth County, NC, to the late Herbert and Dorothy Lowder Reynolds.
Lynne attended Lewisville School and graduated from Southwest High School of Clemmons in 1957. She attended High Point University in High Point, NC, and was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority.
After college, she worked for Security Life and Trust Company until the birth of her twins. While her children were in school, she was active in Lewisville Methodist Church and Lewisville School as President of the PTA. She was a Player Agent for the Southwest Forsyth Girls Little League for several years as her children grew. She later worked for Lamps and Shades in Winston-Salem, Security Underwriters, INC. of Lewisville, and retired as Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Central YMCA of Greater Winston-Salem.
She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and served with the NC Baptist Men’s Disaster and Recovery Unit and with Solus Christus. Finally, she was a volunteer with Novant Health Forsyth Medical center for 9 years.
With a house full of plants and a patio full of flowers, Lynne was known for her special talent for gardening and could often be found in her kitchen overseeing both her plants and the many birds that nested on her patio. In her spare time, Lynne was a voracious reader and loved keeping detailed records of her monthly reading endeavors. In addition, she enjoyed strolling the aisles of Costco finding deals and sampling all of the treats along the way. You could always find friends, family, and neighbors at Lynne’s, enjoying her home cooked meals and persimmon pudding, created with fruit from her tree in the backyard. She served her churches through singing in the choir, playing handbells, and devoutly participating in her Sunday school classes, which brought her great joy. Most importantly, Lynne remained steadfast in her faith as she powered through life, always fervently in prayer for those she loved most.
In addition to her parents, Lynne was preceded in death by her son, Bradley Atkins. She leaves behind three children, Allison (Jeff) Anderson, Ashley Branch, Britt (Jecca) Atkins; daughter-in-law, Melissa Atkins; eight grandchildren, who affectionately called her “Mama Lynne”, Garrett Branch, Josh Atkins, Matthew Atkins, Addison Branch, Peyton Justice, Luke Atkins, Elijah Atkins, Tanner Atkins; six great grandchildren; brothers, Jon (Libby) Reynolds and Timothy (Connie) Reynolds; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Lynne will be held on Saturday, January 18th, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Lewisville United Methodist Church (6290 Shallowford Rd, Lewisville NC). She will be laid to rest in the church cemetery next to her parents. (**Please note, there will NOT be a visitation prior to the service)
