Lynn Kenneth Harvey

Lynn passed away suddenly on Tuesday September 1, 2015. Lynn was born in Beaumont, Texas to Kenneth and Louraine Harvey and later moved to Shreveport, Louisiana where he graduated from Byrd High School. He received Bachelors and Masters degrees from Baylor University and a Ph.D. from Florida State University. Lynn was a lead researcher for the AMA in Chicago and most recently an associate professor in sociology at Winston-Salem State University. Lynn was a sweet, kind and loving man who appreciated his family and friends. He and Lenore traveled and hiked, often heading to Colorado, Arizona, Utah, New Mexico and the Green Mountains of Vermont. His most memorable outdoor adventure was hiking solo into the Grand Canyon. This spring, Lynn and Lenore had a wonderful adventure in Italy where they enjoyed the beauty of the culture and some amazing food. Lynn was a talented black and white film photographer who was able to capture the beauty of city architecture as well as art in nature. He loved his yoga and meditation practices and was grateful for the Divine presence in his life.

To honor his memory, donations can be made to the Well of Mercy or the United Way of Forsyth County.

A memorial to honor Lynn will be held on Saturday September 5th at 10:00am in the Diggs Gallery on the campus of Winston-Salem State University.
