Lynn Deaton Gaddy

Mr. Lynn Deaton Gaddy, 82, of Winston-Salem, passed away Saturday, August 31, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born December 14, 1930 in Mt. Gilead, NC to Edward and Nannie Deaton Gaddy. Mr. Gaddy served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He came to Winston-Salem and drove a truck for McLean Trucking Company for 31 years. He married his wife, Willa Prevette Gaddy on February 7, 1957. Lynn and Willa enjoyed square dancing for many years. Surviving are his wife of the home; a daughter, Karen Alicia Sapp and husband, the Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp; a son, Kevin Gaddy of the home; a brother, Walter Ed Gaddy and wife, Billie Rose; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 4 at Oaklawn Baptist Church with the Rev. Todd Haley officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to National Kidney Foundation of N.C., 4701 Hedgemore Dr., Suite 810, Charlotte, NC 28209-2280. The family wishes to thank the doctors and hospital staff of Forsyth Medical Center for their dedicated care during Lynn's extended illness.
