- Mrs. Lynda Rader Rumfelt, passed away unexpectedly at age 75 on July 17, 2016 at Forsyth Medical Center after surgical complications following a re-diagnosis of her renal cell cancer. Lynda was born on June 29, 1941 in McDowell County to Alvin and Clyde Stepp Rader. She was a member of Ardmore Baptist Church where she was very active, especially singing in the choir. She retired from the NC DOT with over 25 years of service. Foremost and most importantly, Lynda was the ultimate caregiver between her children and illnesses suffered by her husband Bennie in 2012 and son Greg in 2013. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, R. Bennie Rumfelt; son, Gregory Mark Rumfelt; sister, Jeanette Ostwalt; two brothers, Buddy and Jimmy Rader. Lynda is survived by two daughters, Deborah Buchalter and husband Jeff of Pensacola, FL and Elizabeth Alberding of Oxford; son, Jeffrey Rumfelt of Clemmons; grandchildren, Brandon and Hannah Buchalter, Alexander and Nicole Bowman and Kevin Rumfelt; two great grandchildren, Anthony and Aria Bowman; brother, Gene Rader and wife, Peggy of Houston, Texas and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Ardmore Baptist Church with Dr. Don Gordon and Rev. Christa Warise officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family would like to express their gratitude to all her church family and friends during her illness.
