Luvada Rierson Gulledge, 93, passed away at Alamance House, in Burlington on January 18, 2022. Luvada was born on October 4, 1928, to Frank Rierson and Rosella Hauser Rierson in Surry County. She began her career at R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in 1947. She worked in the packaging department, Bldg. #97, and retired with 37 years of dedicated service. Mrs.Gulledge was a member of Advent Moravian Church since 1953. She enjoyed archery, collecting glassware, traveling, shopping and reading. In addition to her parents, Luvada was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Franklin Daniel “Ted” Gulledge; four brothers, Dallas Rierson, Julius Rierson, Grady Rierson, Paul Rierson and three sisters, Seulah Butner, Beulah Westmoreland and Leona Gordon. Surviving are her ten nieces, Barbara Carter (Morris); Judy Doss (Dink), Jan Hopper (Mickey), Betty Coleman (Buddy), Adelaide Palmer (Ronald), Helen Frazier (Chuck), Janie Hamby (R.C.), Dixie Walsh (Frank), Ruth Carol, Elizabeth Ellen and seven nephews, Randall Butner (Debbie), Dexter Butner (Gail), Isaac Butner (Jeanine), Jack Roger Westmoreland (Katie), Randy Gordon (Vicki), Wayne Rierson and J.R. Rierson. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Dr. Tim Sapp officiating. Entombment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM, prior to the service at the funeral home.
