Luther Alexander Wood

Mr. Luther Alexander Wood, 93, of Winston-Salem passed away Friday, January 18, 2013 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born March 13, 1919 in Forsyth County to L.A. and Daisy Plowman Wood. He was a veteran in US Army serving in WWII. During the Vietnam Conflict he worked in Da Nang as a civilian for the U.S. government implementing the building of a gas plant and supervising plant operations for approximately four years. Mr. Wood was a member of the American Legion in Alaska and Pfafftown VFW Post #8593. He was also a member of College Park Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Wood. Surviving are two nephews, Greg Paul Wood (Mary) and Keith Alan Wood (Debra); a great niece, Sandra Hauser (Norris); several other great nieces and nephews; special church friends, Jim and Linda Palmer, Nita and Mike Royal and Liz Martin; and longtime family friend, Emma Reeves (J.D.). Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM Tuesday at Forsyth Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Ramon Smith officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Pfafftown VFW Post #8593.
