Luther "Joe" Barrett Tyson, Sr.

Mr. Luther Barrett Tyson Sr. (Joe) 82 of Gateway Place Ln. Kernersville, NC. Went to his heavenly home peacefully this morning June 2nd 2016. Joe was born in Pitt County September 16th 1934, to the late Roy Tyson Sr. and the late Geneva Elizabeth Pope. He also was preceded in death by his beloved wife Irene Tyson of 55 & 1/2 years, a loving son Donald W. Tyson Sr., and Brother Roy Tyson Jr. Mr. Tyson is survived by his children: Luther B. Tyson Jr. and spouse John Rape, Vickie Thacker- Allen, husband Gerald, and Judy Tyson-McCoy, husband Bill. Grand children: William Thacker, Brian Thacker, Donald W. Tyson jr. and Adam McCoy. A sister Rose Tyson-Howard, husband Bobby, a brother Rodie Tyson. Great Grand Children: Michael L. Thacker, Bryceen Thacker, Joshua Savoie, Nicholas Thacker, Nataly Thacker, Nolen Thacker, Jordan, Patience, Hannah Tyson, and Dalton Tyson. Two sister-n-laws: Jackie Coble and Verlene Thompson. Many Nieces and Nephews. A very dear friend Betty Grubbs.

Mr. Tyson was a member of Burning Bush Community Church King, NC. Was retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. 16 years of service. He also worked for Mr. D.L. Phillips as maintenance manager for Morning Side Apts. Charlotte NC for 13 years, Joe also worked for Novant Forsyth Medical Center Hospital in Winston Salem NC. Joe had an excellent track record for doing his best on every job, and all things that he put his hands in, a man who loved his family and would do what he could to help others. Joe was always his self, very frank, and very honest, when he gave his opinion on a subject. Joe will be greatly missed by his family who dearly loved him, and by all who knew him.

A service to celebrate his life will be Tuesday Jun 7th at 2pm, at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens 1504 W. Sugar Creek Rd. Charlotte, NC 28262
