Luther Homer Shaw

Mr. Luther Homer Shaw, 87, of Winston-Salem passed away Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born September 17, 1922 in Eden, NC to Thomas Victor and Maude Hankins Shaw. Mr. Shaw was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He retired from Western Electric (AT&T) where he was the maintenance electrician for 35 years. He graduated from Coyne Electrical School in Chicago and held an electrical contractor's license for the state of North Carolina. Mr. Shaw joined the Civilian Conservation Corps, working on the Blue Ridge Parkway and in Oregon for several years. He was owner of Shaw Electric company. He was a member of Electrical Contractors Association, Pioneers of America, and Forsyth Republican Party. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nina Brown Shaw; his parents; three sisters, Lottie Mosley, Ethel Moore and Willie Earnhardt; and three brothers, Cecil, Thomas and Ernest Shaw; and a grandson, Matthew Christian Shaw. Surviving are his son and daughter-in-law, Michael Steven and Linda Moore Shaw of Atlanta, GA, son and daughter-in-law, Gregory Alan and Martha Hicks Shaw of Clemmons; three grandchildren, Marc Shaw, Jeff Shaw and wife Merril, and Caroline Shaw Harrell and husband Brian Harrell; two great grandchildren, Maddox Harrell and Londyn Shaw; two sisters, Frances Conyers and Doris Goforth; and one brother, Rudolph Shaw. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 12 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with the Rev. Gary Byrum officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens.
