Mr. Luther Henry “L.H.” Manuel, 87, passed away Tuesday morning, November 8, 2022, at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. Born April 15, 1935, in Stokes County to the late William Walter and Beatrice Sechrist Manuel. LH retired from Reynolds with over 30 years of service. He retired from Pilot Knob Fire Department as a volunteer fireman. L.H. still had a large group of family and friends from Pilot Knob who took time to stop by and wish him well in these last six months. He also volunteered at Pilot Mtn. Outreach for as long as his health would allow. L.H. was a very caring and devoted man whose greatest joy in life was his family and helping others. He was a simple man who never wanted to be in the front, always in the background with 100% support in what he believed in. Luther loved the Lord and was a member of Christian Community Church where he served on the board to start and build the church. In later years, he worshiped at Westfield Baptist Church for as long as his health allowed. He was a devoted husband to Peggy and a wonderful dad to Luther, Brian and their wives. L.H. was a roll model for the entire family, and his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the light of his life. In addition to his parents, L.H. was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Theo Manuel; seven sisters, Zena Shaw, Lena Mitchell, Louise Barker, Hazel Manuel, Lucy Medlock, and Annabell and Lillie Manuel. He is survived by the love of his life and caregiver, Peggy Gordon Manuel with whom he shared 65 years of blessed marriage; two sons, Luther Manuel (Kristi), Brian Manuel (Tammy); four grandchildren, Nathan Manuel (Trish), Courtney Manuel, Conrad Manuel, and Annalise Manuel; three great-grandchildren, Breanna Hatcher, Daija Hatcher, Ayana Manuel, and two more expected to be here in early spring; one sister, Faye Mitchell; and several nieces and nephews. L.H. was blessed with a large and loving family. A funeral service will be held 1:00 PM Saturday November 12, 2022, at Westfield Baptist Church with Pastor Brad Quesinberry and Bro. D.C. Collins officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM- 1:00 PM Saturday at the church. Interment will follow at Brims Grove Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Gerald Jones officiating. The family would like to thank Dr. Joshua Long at Mtn. View Medical for the many years of care, Woltz Hospice Home and all the volunteers and nurses which were so loving and caring to him, our church family for all the support, neighbors and friends, too many to mention. We are truly humbled and blessed to have you in our lives. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC, Pilot Mtn. Rescue, or Pilot Mtn. Outreach.
