Luther Ronda Davis

Mr. Luther Ronda Davis, 77, of Lewisville, passed away Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. He was born August 9, 1933 in Wilkes County to the late Emory and Martha Combs Davis. Mr. Davis served in the U.S. National Guard as a Reserve. He retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company after 33 years of service. Mr. Davis was a member of Green Meadows Baptist Church of Mocksville, where he loved serving the Lord. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. Mr. Davis was an avid gardener, who loved growing tomatoes and grafting his own apple trees. He was a bee keeper who also loved to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Everette Davis; another brother, Cromie Davis and one daughter, Rhonda Carol Davis. Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Mrs. Sarah Phelps Davis; three sons, Luther Ronda Davis, Jr. ""Ronnie"" (Donna) of Advance, James Everette Davis (Anita) of Pfafftown and Luther Anthony Davis ""Tony"" (Sue) of Walkertown one step son, Homer Caldwell Gough, Jr. (Jennifer) of Lewisville; one step daughter, Patsy Gough Williams (Pastor Charles) of Asheboro ; one sister, Ora Laws of Hayes, NC; thirteen grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 20, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Comer, Pastor Charles Williams and Rev. Ray Davis officiating. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park with Military Rites by District 11 Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
