Luther Butner, Jr.

Mr. Luther N. Butner, Jr., 97, of Winston-Salem passed away Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at his home. He was born May 21, 1920 in Forsyth County, the son of the late, Luther N. Butner, Sr. and Martha Mock Butner. Mr. Butner was a member of Pine Chapel Moravian Church. He was founder and owner of Luther Butner Builders and was retired from Hennis Freight Lines. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Hutchins Butner and two sisters, Martha Davis and Mildred Park. Survivors include one son, Dean C. Butner and wife, Deborah; one daughter, Jane Shaver and husband, Don; three grandchildren, Chad Butner and wife, Lynn, Ashley Atkins and husband, David and Julie Smith and husband, Philip; and a number of great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Burial will follow in Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 12:30 until 1:45 PM at the funeral home.
