Luther Dale Billings

Kernersville-Luther Dale Billings, 71, went to be with the Lord Saturday July 25, 2009 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He was born in Allegany County to Odell and Ruby Brown Billings. Dale was a member of Gospel Light Baptist Church, a veteran of the U.S. Army and he retired from Piedmont/ US Air after 30 years of service. He loved singing and was a member of the Rythmaires Gospel Quartet and was an avid Golfer. He is survived by his wife Louise Gregory Billings of the home; two daughters; Teresa Alexander and husband Ricky of Mocksville and Beth Ladd and husband Doug of Lexington; two stepchildren Tommy Williams and wife Jackie of Stokesdale, and Carol Jordan and husband Ed, of Lexington; and mother Ruby Brown Billings; and eight grandchildren; Amy and Sarah Alexander, Mary Ann, Monica and Zackary Ladd, Tommy Williams, Jr., Sam and Charlie Jordan; three brothers and one sister. A funeral service will be conducted 4:00 PM Tuesday July 28, 2009 at Gospel Light Baptist Church, Walkertown with Dr. Bobby Roberson, Rev. Frank Shumate and Rev. Hagan McCellan officiating. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory, Walkertown. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the church prior to the service. The family requests that memorials be directed to Hospice and Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane Winston-Salem, NC 27103
