Mr. Lummie Ray “Lum” Stillie Jr. passed away Monday, March 13, 2023. Lum was born and raised in Winston-Salem and was a graduate of Hanes High School, class of 1955. He was a member of Grapevine Baptist Church in Lewisville. He was preceded in death by his mother Sadie Johnson Stillie, father, Lummie Ray Stillie Sr., brother, Robert Edward Stillie, and granddaughter, Courtney Megan Stillie. He is survived by his brother, Donald Stillie, his three children, Ray Dean Stillie (Donna) of Winston-Salem, Vicki Diane Stewart (Russell) of Yadkinville, and Derek Lee Stillie (Donna) of Walnut Cove. He also had five grandchildren, Melissa DeHart (Jeff), Heather Surratt, Tiffany Eddleman (Nathan), Joshua Stillie (Nikki) and Ashley Wyrick (Daniel), 12 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. He also has a very special friend whom he carried a great love and friendship for, Mattie M. Hawks of Lexington, who preceded him in death on May 6, 2011. Lum worked for the Bahnson Company from 1960 to 1973. He then joined the Forsyth County Sherriff's Department and worked there until his retirement. He loved his church, his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends Friday, March 17, 2023 from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm at Hayworth-Miller Lewisville Chapel. A Funeral Service will be conducted Saturday, March 18, 2023 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Ronnie Comer officiating. Burial will follow at Love's United Methodist Church Cemetery in Walkertown, NC. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd St., New York, NY 10016
