Lucy Orrell Gunter

Lucy Orrell Gunter, 90, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born April 20, 1919 in Davie County, the second of nine children to the late Benjaman Stacey and Flora Mae Howard Orrell. She enjoyed nature, especially her plants, flowers, and watching birds. Lucy loved to water ski and to be outdoors. Preceding her in death was her husband, Howard Wiley Gunter; sister, Ruby Blackburn of Tallahassee, Florida; and three brothers, Charlie, Alton, and Kenneth Orrell. Surviving are three brothers, Walter Orrell of Advance, B.S. Orrell of Maggie Valley, and Frank Orrell of Winston-Salem; one sister, Betty Orrell-Arnold of Orlando, Florida; also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Parklawn Memorial Park with Mr. Barry Orrell officiating. The family will receive friends 6:30-8:30 PM Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel.
