Lucy Gordon Flynn

Ms. Lucy Gordon Flynn, 86, passed away at Novant Health Clemmons Medical Center on August 4, 2024. She was born October 27, 1937, to the late Muncie Neal and Alta Gibson in Stokes County, NC.

Lucy’s life was all about her family and known by all as Nana, a title she was very proud of. Regardless of her own health conditions and many struggles throughout the years she never failed to ask how you were doing and genuinely cared about others. She will forever be remembered for her unconditional love, huge heart, big smile, and kindness. Lucy was a giving soul with a huge heart who loved unconditionally and always treated others how she wanted to be treated. Lucy retired from a long career at Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools in Food Nutrition where she enjoyed helping others while feeding the kids at Parkland High School.

Along with her parents, Lucy is preceded in death by Sister, Willa “Cookie” Sanders and Brothers, Harry Neal, Bob Neal, William Elijah “Lige” Neal, and Walter Neal.

Lucy is survived by her daughters Bridgette Meekins and husband Scott of Lexington, NC and Toni Gordon of Winston Salem, NC; grandchildren Bethany Meekins, Marissa Gordon, Zariah Rayford, Preston Fulp, Jr., Kimora Fulp, and one great grandbaby Zuri (Lu) Rollerson.

Bridgette and Scott would like to personally thank Dr. Alicia Beal at Novant Salem Family Practice for the exceptional care provided to Lucy over the years. A special thanks to the staff and friends at Holiday Creekside Terrace for welcoming Lucy with open arms along with all the loving support making her last month’s special by providing a great independent living environment she could call her new home and always having an open seat for her at the Bingo table.

Mama, Nana, and a friend to so many will be truly missed by everyone she encountered during her lifetime. Lucy will forever be remembered for her amazing strength as a special little lady who made the world a better place!

The family will hold a private celebration of life service in Lucy’s honor. In honor of Lucy and her passion for feeding others, the family would like to have donations made to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina in lieu of flowers.
