Lucy York Bryant

Mrs. Lucy York Bryant, 85, passed away Monday January 7, 2013 under the wonderful care of the 8th North Tower Palliative Care Unit of Forsyth Medical Center. She was born January 4, 1928 in Surry County to Martha Lenora Luffman and James Andrew York. Mrs. Bryant retired from Arbor Acres in 1991. She was a loving Christian mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She was a proud and loving member of Forsyth Park Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gladus L. Bryant, parents; two sisters, Patsy Jean York, Virginia Dare York; four brothers, Thomas Andrew York, Dwight David York, Harry Junior York, Johnny Wilburn York. Surviving are two sons, Barry Bryant (Sandi) of Elkin, Jim Bryant (Marty) of Winston-Salem; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Elizabeth York Vestal; several nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 2:30PM Thursday, January 10, 2013 at Forsyth Park Baptist Church with Pastor John Krivsky and Rev. Gene Sherrill officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Forsyth Park Baptist Church, 1600 S. Hawthorne Rd. Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
