Lucy Johnson Branscome

Lucy Johnson Branscome, 88, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011 at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. She was born in Winston Salem on June 10, 1923, daughter of Ella Midkiff Johnson and Rex Henry Johnson. ""Nanny"" will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and church, Salem Baptist of which she was a member for over 65 years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ernest Minor Branscome; son, James Branscome; and brother, James Johnson. She is survived by daughter, Ruth Craver and husband J. Richard of Clemmons; two grandchildren, Alison Craver Lew and husband Sean of Clemmons and Jonathan Richard Craver of Advance; three great-grandchildren, Jenny, Caroline, and Lucy Lew; sister, Alice Southern of Shelby. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Dr. Howard L. Wilburn officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Salem Baptist Church, 429 South Broad Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
