Lucille Lucy Mahood Spain

Lucille (Lucy) Mahood Spain, 82, died on August 6, 2008 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on October 13, 1925 to Glenn Ray and Annie Nash Mahood. Lucy graduated from R.J. Reynolds High School in 1944 and was a graduate of City Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She worked at City Hospital for a number of years and finished her nursing career in the office of a private physician. Lucy was a member of Burkhead United Methodist Church and the City Hospital/Forsyth Nursing Association. Lucy was married to Paul W. Spain, April 28, 1956. He preceded her in death on June 12, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Naomi Mahood and Mariam Garner; two brothers, Bobby N. Mahood and Eugene R. Mahood. Lucy is survived by a sister, Betty M. Powers and her husband Paul; sisters-in-law, Irene Mahood and Lucille Ashburn; nieces, Susan Disher and her husband David, Gail Morris and her husband Lester, Kathy Stephens and her husband Howard; nephews, Harold Garner, Jr. and his wife Patty, Paul Powers, Jr. and his wife Tina and their son Connor Powers. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews of the Spain family. A graveside service will be conducted by Reverend Kathie Sherrill at Forsyth Memorial Park at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 9, 2008. The family will receive friends at the graveside following the service. The family extends a sincere thank you to her friends at The Oaks at Forsyth for their love, care and support.
