KING Mrs. Lucille Garwood King formerly of Faircloth Dr., Winston-Salem passed away Monday, May 04, 2009. She was born November 2, 1917 in Davidson County to the late Samuel Anderson Garwood and Mamie Cope Garwood. Mrs. King graduated from Old Town High School and was a charter member of Messiah Moravian Church. She worked for R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. for 29 years. Mrs. King was an avid bowler as long as her health permitted. She drew crowds with her slow ball. She also loved to fish and take walks along Polo Rd. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Harvey W. King and an infant great-granddaughter, Lauren Ashley Williams. Mrs. King is survived by two daughters, Ronye Blackburn and husband Don and Bunny Phipps, a step-son, Harvey Gene King and wife Betty, four grandchildren, Cindy Williams (Harold), Rowenna Shore (Steve), Ronda Johnson (Kenny) and Clinton Samples,10 great-grandchildren and one sister, Betty Ann Mock. A private memorial service for immediate family will be held at a later date. The family will receive friends from 7-9 this evening, Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall. In lieu of flowers memorials made be made to; Rural Hall Moravian Church, P.O. Box 487, Rural Hall, NC 27045.
