Mr. Glen Leslie Bell, Jr., 66, died on December 8, 2012 at home surrounded by his loving family. Glen died following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born on October 24, 1946 to Glen and Earla Bell. He was raised in Buffalo, NY while spending his summers in PA at his grandmother Wiley's farm. He met and then married his wife, Elizabeth Bell (Higgins), in 1968. Glen joined the United States Air Force in 1968. He served his country during the Vietnam War, piloting O2's and B 52's. Upon returning home he continued his military service until his retirement in 1988 while raising his three daughters. His pride and joy was his grandson, Logan Roberts, who referred to him as ""Pop Pop."" Glen went on to teach at Parkland High School in Winston-Salem, NC. Glen coached many soccer teams throughout the years for his daughters and grandson. Glen was preceded in death by his father, Glen L. Bell, Sr.; and his wife's parents, Joseph and Aline Higgins. Glen was also preceded in death by his faithful canine companion, Abby. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Elizabeth Bell; three daughters, Colleen, Amy and Melissa Bell; and his grandson, Logan. In addition, he is survived by his mother, Earla Bell; and his sister, Patricia; and brother in law, Robert Hewitt; many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Margie and Edward Deitch, Joseph and Patricia Higgins, Patricia Higgins and Jack Fasanella, Bob and Rosanne Higgins, Dennis and Ruth Higgins, and Michelle and Larry Catalano. Glen was also a huge pet lover and is survived by his granddogs, Bailey, Ranger and Kobe. Glen was a loving uncle to many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Visitation will be held at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel at 108 E. Kinderton Way, Advance, NC on December 9, 2012 from 4:00-7:00 PM. A funeral mass along with military rites will be held in Buffalo, NY prior to being laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Lackawanna, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Hospice in Glen's memory. The family wishes to thank the staff at Baptist Hospital's Oncology Department and Hospice for all of the care and compassion that they have shown our family during our journey.
