Loyd Stanford Dunn

Mr. Loyd Stanford Dunn, 88, passed away Monday, January 19, 2009 at the Oaks at Forsyth. He was born November 14, 1920 in Surry County to the late Charles Bahnson Dunn, Sr. and Lela Vaughan Dunn. Mr. Dunn was a veteran of the United States Army. He proudly served his country during WWII in Europe as a Military Policeman. He loved to restore antique cars, gardening, and woodworking. Preceding him in death was his first wife of 57 years, Lodena Boger Dunn and a son, Charles Allen Dunn. Surviving is his wife, Verna Howard Dunn; three daughters, Barbara Belk (Johnny), Linda Hackler, and Shirley Leonard; four grandchildren, Shari Belk, Wendy Birchfield, Tracy Pierce, and Brandi Leonard; eight great-grandchildren, Hannah, Mallory, Tatum, Trace, Haven, Alexis, Jay, and Brianna; three sisters, Mabel Williams, Ruth Harvel, and Frances Blume; one brother, Charles B. Dunn, Jr. and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Friday, January 23, 2009 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
