Winston-Salem - Louise Shrewsbury Vaught passed away June 6, 2009 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center. She was born June 23, 1933 in Mercer Co. West Va. to the late Clarence Clifford and Estelle Gunter Shrewsbury. Evelyn was a loving wife, mother, and Maw Maw. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Phillip Lynwood Vaught, and her son, Jeffrey Scott Vaught. Surviving are two daughters; Connie Atkins (Darius) of Walnut Cove, and Debby Prell (Kirk) of Winston Salem, two sons, Phillip Vaught (Sheila) of Kernersville, and Rick Vaught (Judy) of Clemmons; twelve grandchildren, Joe (Shannon), Lori, Amanda, Chris, Adam (Amanda), Jeffrey, Lisa, Kaycee, Lynnee, Brandie, Tarah and Michael; eight great grandchildren, Trenton, Cara, Caitlyn, Caleb, Chloe, Bryle, Nicholas and Maddie. A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel with the Reverend Arlen Faircloth officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Vaught Family Cemetery in West Virginia. The family will receive friends from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2009 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Diabetes Association, 222 South Church Street Ste. 336-M, Charlotte, NC, 28202.
