Louise Georgette Pickersgill

Ms Louise Georgette Pickersgill passed away on September 23, 2013 after a brief illness. She was born in Manhattan and graduated Julie Richman High School at age 16. Ms. Pickersgill then attended Wagner College, graduating with a BA in Mathematics in 1966. More recently, Ms. Pickersgill obtained an Associate's Degree in Interior Design from Forsyth Technical Community College. In 2001 Ms. Pickersgill moved to Winston-Salem with her husband of 24 years, John Holder. Besides her husband, Ms. Pickersgill is survived by her stepdaughter, Kristyn McAlinden and husband James McAlinden of Greenfield Center, NY and two grandchildren, Jamie and Tyler McAlinden. She is also survived by her aunt, Florise Tiedemann of San Rafael, CA and numerous cousins. Ms. Pickersgill retired from ISO, Jersey City, NJ where she worked until 2001, and was working at Forsyth Technical Community College at the time she became ill. She was an active member of Sassy Red Hatters, Chapter 38858, the American Association of University Women, and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Winston-Salem. A memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Chaplain Sherry Jones officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to the Derrick Davis Regional Cancer Center, Novant Health Foundation, Forsyth Medical Center, 3333 Silas Creek Parkway, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
