Mrs. Louise Bass McCall, 98, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at Vienna Village in Pfafftown. She was born on August 8, 1924, in Surry County, the daughter of the late Emory Bass and Bessie Beamer Johnson Bass. Louise was a longtime member of Becks Baptist Church, where she was a member of the WMU and served as president of the Dorcas Sunday School Class for 30 years. She loved to cook, sew and make crafts. Louise worked with Meals on Wheels for several years and enjoyed baking cakes for the shut-ins at the church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chester William “Chet” McCall; a son David Brown; a husband, Roy Canter and all of her siblings, Claude Bass, Garld Bass, Worth Bass, Margie Chilton, Charlie Bass, Jack Bass and Sylvia Martin. Louise is survived by her daughter, Sandra Kay Hedrick (Gary); two granddaughters, Noelle Hembree (Mark) and Heather Hedrick; a great-granddaughter, Rachel Kostura (Joe); four step-children, Richard McCall, Nancy Cline, Beverly Garrett and Patricia Stoner; and a host of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Becks Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Vaughn officiating. The family will gather and receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at Becks Baptist Church prior to the graveside service.
