Mrs. Louise Mildred Reich Long, 89, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013 at her home. She was born July 19, 1923 in Forsyth County to Carl W. Reich, Sr. and Ida Hege Reich. Mrs. Long was a graduate of Griffith High School and Draughn's Business College. She worked for the Bahnson Company. She left her business career to join her new husband to start a farm and family. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Francis Sam Long; three sisters, Virginia Mae Reich, Laura Weaver and Mary Sides; and one brother, Carl Reich, Jr. Surviving are her children, Daniel R. Long (Brenda), Jim Long (Connie), all of Winston-Salem, and Mary Mendenhall (Jerry) of Lexington; her grandchildren, Aaron Long, Mandy Blalock, Jera Hawn, Nia Ward, Meredith Morrissey and Jessica Stewart; seven great grandchildren; special relatives, Betty Reich, Boone Sides, and Lois Long; and many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 24 at Hebron United Church of Christ with Pastor and Teacher, Dave Carter and Pastor and Teacher, Steve Gilreath. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hebron United Church of Christ Building and Grounds Fund, 129 Hebron Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27107 or to the charity of the donor's choice.
