Mr. Louis McNair, 87, of Winston-Salem, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011, at Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. He had been in declining health for two months. Mr. McNair was born November 10, l923, in Chesterfield County in South Carolina to the late Benjamin E. McNair and Mary E. McNair. He graduated from James A. Gray High School. Serving during WWII as an aviation metalsmith, Mr. McNair was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a past commander of American Legion Post No. 448 in Granite Quarry, NC. After being employed for many years as a foreman, Mr. McNair retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company. Those left to cherish him include the love of his life, wife Laura Parsons McNair; his daughters, Linda Misenheimer and husband Ralph A. (Tony) of Rockwell, NC; Laura Wilson and husband Henry of Charleston, SC: Lynn Leisy and husband William D. (Bill) of Amelia Island, FL; his son, David McNair of Winston-Salem; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. His love for God, family, and friends will always remain close in the hearts and minds of those who knew him. A graveside service will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church on US 421 above North Wilkesboro. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
