WARREN - Winston-Salem Mrs. Lota Sutphin West Warren, 92, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2009 at Springwood Care Center. She was born May 1, 1916 in Surry County, NC to the late George Washington Sutphin and Irene Margaret Payne Sutphin. Mrs. Warren retired from R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. in December 1979 with 46 years of service and was a former member of Crestwood Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Warren was preceded in death two daughters, Jean West Hartgrove and Lynn Warren Timothy; one grandson; seven brothers; and four sisters. Surviving are one daughter, Jo Ann West Horton of Winston-Salem; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; one step-great-granddaughter; two great, great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be conducted 3:00 P.M. Friday, March 20 at Crestview Memorial Park with the Rev. Daniel Salmon officiating. There will be no formal visitation; however, family and friends may come by Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home in Rural Hall Thursday, March 19 from 10:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. to pay their last respects to Mrs. Warren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association - Western Carolina Chapter, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the staff at Springwood Care of Forsyth Unit 4; especially Desiree, Jo Ann and Suzy for all the love and special care Mrs. Warren received during her three years there, especially during her illness. Special thanks and love goes out to C.C. Jones, my mother's guardian angel for the past three years. She is a very special lady.
