Lorraine Adams Zerbe, beloved wife and mother, was born August 17, 1921 to Leslie and Irene Adams of Hubbard, MN. The second of 15 children, she worked with her father during her teen years as a lumberjack cutting pulpwood. Born again through faith in Christ Jesus on December 18, 1938, she followed God's calling to St. Paul Bible College, where she met and later married Ludwig Zerbe. Together they followed the call to missionary service spanning 44 years in Africa, Hawaii, Alaska, Nebraska, Montana, and Virginia. She loved the outdoors, and birds, butterflies, trees, and flowers always brought a smile to her face. Her adventurous spirit, generous heart, and lively wit were well known to all whose lives she touched. She is survived by her husband, Ludwig Zerbe, of Clemmons, NC, and children, Leslie Paul Zerbe of Fairbanks, AK, Sheryl Metz of Clemmons, NC, Stephen Zerbe of Germanton, NC and Janeen Longworth of Clemmons, NC, as well as 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was a charter member of West Haven Baptist Church in Clemmons. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 23rd from 6-8 PM at Hayworth-Miller Funeral Home on Silas Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem. The funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 24th at 10:00am at Grace Baptist Temple on Peters Creek Parkway in Winston-Salem. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributtoins may be made through West Haven Baptist Church for disaster relief. The family would like to thank Grace Baptist Temple for their generosity, and Dr. Anthony Kummer and staff at Winston-Salem Health Care for their care and support. ""Our Tears are not for you, dear one, but for those of us you left behind; For you, life's struggle now is done, before us still the road unwinds. Yet we do weep, because your face this side of heaven we will not see, and there will be an empty place where your dear presence used to be. But our tears are not for you, dear one, we're glad you're safe on heaven's shore; We'll meet you there, when our race is done- Home at last, forevermore!""
