Lorraine Pilla Perrotta - 32 Year Winston-Salem Resident
Lorraine Perrotta of 3552 Heathrow Drive, Winston-Salem died on Saturday, March 14, 2015. She passed away peacefully at Trinity Elms Nursing Home in Clemmons. She was 94 years
old and the wife of Frank J. Perrotta who predeceased her. She was born on May 10, 1920 in Brockton, Massachusetts to Angelo and Elvira Pilla. She grew up in Tarrytown, NY and was the youngest of six children.
She attended Irvington, NY schools where she graduated early after skipping two grades. She went to business school in New York City and also excelled there graduating early.
She was a working Mother and held many administrative positions. Her last two tenures were at the Nestle Company and IBM, both in Westchester County, NY.
She spent her pre-retirement years with her older daughter, Suzanne and her family. When she retired from IBM, she and her husband moved to Winston-Salem in 1983 to share her leisure years with their daughter, Sharon and her family.
Lorraine was a Forsyth Hospital volunteer for many years working in the Gift shop. She was very friendly and outgoing and thoroughly enjoyed her time at Forsyth.
Since she loved to read and write, she was quite proficient doing crossword puzzles, word jumbles, and cryptograms, and she enjoyed board games such as Mahjong and Scrabble.
She was a long-time member of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church and belonged to the Golden Club until she became ill.
Lorraine was an incredible loving, dedicated, caring Mother and a wonderful ""Nana"" to her four grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandsons.
Mrs. Perrotta is survived by her two daughters, Suzanne Conlin of Ridgefield, CT, and Sharon Nisi and husband Vincent of Lewisville, NC, two grandsons, Christopher J. Mansa of Danbury, CT, Mark V. Mansa of Bethel, CT; two granddaughters, Lori Lynn Nisi of Chapel Hill, NC, Jaime Leigh Wiley of Wilmington, NC. Her seven great-grandchildren are: Ryan D. Mansa, Christina Morelli, Alexa Mansa, Victoria Mansa, Mark A. Mansa, Jaxson Wiley and Hannah Wiley. She is great-great-grandmother to Christian and Derek Morelli.
Fr. Brian Cook of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, Winston-Salem, will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:00AM. Visitation will follow the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Leo the Great Catholic School, 333 Springdale Avenue, Winston-Salem, NC 27104.
